Once you have finished admiring the view – or spent some time exploring the rock pools – head past the toilets and you’ll find a path onto land owned by the National Trust for Scotland.įollow the path behind some cottages and go through two kissing gates and you’ll reach a track through a meadow, which you should take to the left. No wonder Rockcliffe and Colvend Community Council installed a telescope at the beach a few years ago.
On a clear day, it’s possible to see across the Solway to the Cumbrian coast and the hills of the Lake District beyond – truly one of the most spectacular views in the Stewartry. It is also shut off during the summer months as it is used by birds for breeding.
